Our story

From a small gathering
to a movement of hope.

Founded in 2025 as a church-based response. Today, a young community walking with children and families across Marsabit County.

Harvest Hope Initiative was born in Marsabit — a region rich in spirit but tested by drought, distance, and limited access to quality education. What started in 2025 as a small church gathering, with a handful of volunteers and a few children in need, is steadily growing into a community of hope.

We believe in seeds. The seed of a child's potential. The seed of a family's faith. The seed of a community's shared future. Each one needs the right soil, steady water, and the patience to wait for the harvest.

Why Marsabit

Marsabit County sits in northern Kenya, where pastoralist families balance ancient ways of life with the pressures of a changing climate and economy. Children here are remarkable — resilient, curious, full of joy — but they often face barriers to schooling, safety, and stability that no child should carry alone. We exist to remove those barriers. Quietly. Faithfully. One family at a time.

How we work

Everything we do is rooted in relationship. We don't parachute in with programs; we sit with families, listen to pastors and teachers, and build alongside the people who already know their community best. Faith shapes our motivation. Education shapes our method. Community shapes our measure of success.

We are a small organization, and we like it that way — accountable to every donor, present in every story, slow to scale and quick to listen.

What we stand for

Four values that hold us together.

Not buzzwords — the actual posture we try to bring to every conversation.

01

Faith-led

We anchor our work in Christian faith — not as a label, but as a daily practice of love, humility, and stewardship.

02

Education first

An educated child is a free child. We invest in the long, patient work of seeing a child through school.

03

Community-rooted

We build with the community, not for it. Pastors, parents, teachers, and elders sit at the table.

04

Compassionate

Compassion is our default. We show up. We listen first. We choose dignity over efficiency, every time.

Our journey

A few milestones.

Slow growth, deep roots.

Early 2025

A small beginning

Harvest Hope Initiative is founded as a church-based response to children in Marsabit who need support to stay in school.

Mid 2025

First children supported

Our first cohort begins — school fees paid, uniforms provided, and steady mentorship offered through local volunteers.

Late 2025

Community outreach takes root

Partnerships established with churches, pastors, and teachers across Marsabit Town and surrounding villages.

2026

Programs deepen

Child protection, faith formation, and family support work expand alongside our growing education program.

Today

Still listening. Still planting.

We continue to grow slowly and faithfully, refusing to outpace the relationships that make our work possible.
